Coming Fall of 2008!
American Marine Engines, 1885 – 1950 by Stan
Grayson
How do you replace a classic? That is question author Stan
Grayson had to answer when planning this replacement for Old
Marine Engines, the World of the One-Lunger. First
published in 1982, that book’s third edition is expected
to be sold out in the next year. Initially, the choices
were: Reprint? Update? Replace?
After much thought and talks with engine collectors, the
decision was made to replace Old Marine Engines and
let it go out-of-print. (Please order soon to avoid
disappointment.) The question then became what the
new book should be. Ultimately, it was decided to focus
the work on the listings of companies, often the first place
that readers turn for information about a company and its
products. Still, the new book contains four fascinating
chapters on engine industry history, technology, collecting,
and researching. With this book, readers learn how
to become their own detectives and uncover the stories of
their favorite companies.
